• The video usually features the star, band or artist
• The lyrics are normally amplified by the visuals
• Most videos are narrative based, and the narrative is usually closed
• Videos are typically linear, then non-linear
• The editing fits the beat and the time of the music
• Visuals use iconography that are reminiscent of the genre
• There are a range of close ups of the artist or band
• There are a range of camera angles
• The image of the star or band is amplified by the genre
• The special effects are usually simple
• There is often more than one location used, and these tend to be realistic locations
• Normally Lip-syncing
• Usually more than one character in the video
• Characters do not tend to interact with each other.
